Come Create Curious Creatures
	Ages 6 - 9 July 11- July 15 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Cost $300	Come Create Curious Creatures Spark your curiosity during this week long adventure in my art studio packed with unusual supplies. You will make a menagerie of real and imaginary creatures. Learn how to combine bugs, birds, and animal parts with some alien features thrown in to create your own curious creatures. We will use acrylic paint, model magic clay, and found objects to invent your creatures. We will invent a habitat for one of your curious friends and put on a play about new found crazy critters. Your parents will love these creatures because they require little maintenance, just your imagination.

Your Enchanted World
	Ages 8 - 11 July 18- July 22 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Cost $300	Your Enchanted World Come with us “under the toad stools” to an enchanted world of fairies, wizards, elves and mermaids. Let your imagination unfold through use of drawing techniques, sculpting, collage, and painting creatures to develop this magical world. Using your creative powers, you will invent your own fantastic images of little people, their habitat, and animal friends. Artists will blend realistic and non-realistic art techniques as they weave together this magical world. Even Harry Potter would be spellbound by this camp.

Go Green/ Recycled Art
	July 25- July 29 9:30 am- 4:00pm Ages 10 - 13 Cost $300	Go Green/ Recycled Art Don’t trash your junk, look at it with other artistic possibilities! This camp will use recycled materials and other items to create art and expose students to the idea of re-creating. Creating art from recycled materials has inspired many artists to “think outside of the box”. We will recycle old electronic gadgets, game pieces, tools and toys to invent new art that heals our world. It is true that “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.

Camp Registration and Fall Schedule

First Marks Studio designs each camp so that art comes to life for your artist as they learn the fundamentals or art in a safe environment.
First Marks offers fun for everyone!
** Fun, enthusiastic art programs, students will be introduced to the elements and principles of design.
** Help students develop their skills in drawing, water color, acrylic painting, sculpting, collaging, and mixed media while working in groups in a relaxed atmosphere.
** Designed to strengthen skills while encouraging and developing an individualistic style. The studio encourages making new friends and sparking creativity.

About your instructor Mary Beth Swicord
** Professional artist and teacher, previously a visual arts instructor with Fairfax County Public Schools.
** Teaches private and group lessons in her studio, First Marks, which is highly regarded and has served the community for 16 years.
** Experienced in integrating writing and movement into arts classes which provides a unique opportunity for your child in finding their creative muse.
** Teacher/student ratio is excellent (10:1) your child will receive the focus and nurturing he or she deserves as a young artist.
** Camp will be held in Mary Beth Swicord’s home studio, First Marks Studio. The studio has been operating camp sessions since 1998 and is fully licensed and insured.

** Students should bring a daily snack, drinks and lunch. We will have 3 outdoor breaks daily, weather permitting.
** Campers should wear appropriate artist clothing and shoes. (As art has been known to overflow onto clothing).

Registration Information
** Registration begins immediately. Early Camp Registration will receive a 10% discount.
** Class size is limited to 10 students. Registration is on a first come, first served basis.
** A non-refundable deposit of $50
** The remaining tuition balance for all camps will be due in full by designated date.
** Make checks payable to First Marks Studio and send registration forms to: First Marks Studio, Mary Beth Swicord, 1398 Concord Point Lane, Reston, VA 20194.

When deciding if this is the right camp for your child, please realize this is an art-based camp, with lesson plans, open choices in the studio, and regularly scheduled relaxing break/play time. To enable your child to access his/her creative self, your child will need to be able to sit and focus for an extended period of time.
